Five days and five hours away

View of Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

Another trip back to Singapore looms. We’re flying off tomorrow in fact!

Having lived in Australia for nearly a decade, I can’t quite call the little island home any longer. Perth is now truly home for me, what with its lifestyle, landscape, weather and people. More...

Welcome back home, MX-5 Roadster…RF!

Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback

The spirit of Jinba Ittai is back in our home, sitting pretty in our garage!

We got our hands on the new Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback, finished in Crystal White Pearl Mica, approximately 8 months after selling up on the 2010 MX5 NC2 Roadster Coupe.

It’s a blast to drive; in stock form it is even better than the NC2. With upgraded springs and bump stops, rolling in the corners is now twice the fun with minimal body roll!

Our first little mod was to pinstripe the car, and we did it with great success and satisfaction. The all round red accent makes it look premium, and certainly adds a couple of horsepower!

This thing is certainly turning heads everywhere we go!

Back in Reykjavic

View of Reykjavic from Perlan

We headed back to Reykjavic today, after taking a leisurely drive from Laugarvatnand stopping along Thingvellir for some sunny shots.

Reykjavic was sunny, just as how it was when we first arrived. At nearly 20 degrees it was a stark contrast to the low temperatures when we first arrived. More...

It’s full circle…at the Golden Circle

Fist pump for completing our 3-week Iceland Ring Road adventure!

We made it! With our final stop at Laugarvatn our Ring Road adventure is almost complete!

Everything – and I mean right from the planning stage till  today – has gone like clockwork. We’re especially grateful to Mother Nature for mostly good weather during our 3-week stint here. Unexpectedly, there has been plenty of sunshine; in some ways it was almost holidaying in a summer Scandinavia. More...

Off the (somewhat) beaten path

Siglufjörður, Iceland

Fact: A pleasant and relaxed Ring Road trip needs at least 3 weeks, no less.

It will not only give you ample time to explore the sights on your stopovers but also allow you to unwind and just do nothing apart from all that driving and sightseeing. More...

A one night stand

Hvammstangi Cottage, Iceland

We’ve reached Hvammstangi!

The winds were absolutely mad on the way here and I could have sworn our car might very well have been blown away at the cottage carpark (which is why I then moved it right next to the cottage to shelter it from the force of the wind). More...

Beautiful Mývatn

Höfði in Mývatn, Iceland

The photo you’re seeing above is a typical postcard picture of Mývatn. It is a beautiful region, which has seen plenty of volcanic activity in the past, and it is still happening, although not quite as obvious.

Craters and volcanoes in all shapes and sizes dot the landscape, and if there is one you must ascend, it is Hverfjall. Nothing too difficult, just park your car at its base and spend approximately 15 minutes walking to the rim. We chose to hike in from the main road and were able to observe some ground fissures along the way. More...
